The Justification: Pieced Out

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Our new men’s denim line, Comune, has finally arrived at Piece! There are really only two things you need to know about it to justify your purchase:

Justification #1: It’s under $100
Justification #2: We think boys look oh-s0-good in them!
T by Alexander Wang
Justification #1: Between Piece and Atticus, we’ve stocked every style you’ll ever want…racer backs, long sleeved shirts, hoodies, and the ever-coveted capelet tee.
Justification #2: Even though the other Atticus Girls pounced on the racer backs and long sleeved shirts as soon as they came in, there’s still more than enough left for everyone else. However, I’m on the prowl and I can’t guarantee Wang will be here for long!

The Justification: What’s New

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Justification #1: The first shipment of Alice by Temperley is in, and this piece is by far my favorite!

Justification #2: The tiger print is fun, but not so overdone that people will be staring at you for the wrong reasons.
Justification #3: This line gives the quality and details Alice Temperely is known for, at a price point that everyone can love.
Justification #1: The first shipment of Rag&Bone/Jean is also in! We’re one of the first to have it up online…proving yet again that nice girls finish first.
Justification #2: The stiletto bootcut is perfect for wearing over your favorite booties without being reminiscent of ever-so-popular 2002 move of bootcut Sevens over hideous pointy-toed heels.

The justification: Valentine’s Day Gifts

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Oh, Valentine’s Day. It’s a great day to receive presents if you’re with someone, or a day to be dramatic and hate life if there isn’t a boy (or in some circumstances, the boy is too busy to text you back). In any case, here are some gift ideas to bestow on the one you’re with or just yourself.

Giles&Brother XO Studs in Gold Vermeil
Justification #1: Sturdy yet delicate, these earrings can be worn while dressing up or down. Trust me…I wore them everyday for six months straight.
Justification #2: If gold vermeil isn’t your thing, check out the XO Studs in Sterling Silver.
Justification #1: It might not be the most romantic gift, but it’s red and it has a great fit.
Justification #2: Just remember…when in doubt, clothing is WAY more exciting than thoughtless chocolate.

The Justification: Last Minute Ideas

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

This past Saturday marked the 24th annual DMI Frostiball. As a last minute attendee, I pulled together the perfect look to represent Atticus, all the while being taped and spanxed into my dress (I swear that sample size was smaller than normal!). Charlotte Ronson came through as always with my (Kristin’s, whatever) beloved One Shoulder Dress. While squeezing into the dress on Saturday afternoon, it occurred to me that maybe I should just purchase the correct size for myself. Sure, Kristin and I basically share a closet, but that may not last forever and I covet this dress. My wise older sister steered me in the direction of top stick and unflattering undergarments that would get me through the night and save me the money of buying another dress. So, since I decided against the purchase there are now enough of these beauties on the rack for me to justify to you. And hopefully you don’t have a “wiser” sister who will be there to talk you out of such purchases!

Justification #1: The one shoulder is the perfect accent on the dress and will save you money because you won’t need to buy a lot of jewelry to go with it!
Justification #2: This dress is 100% silk and less than $200! It might possibly be the best full priced deal you’ll ever see!
Justification #3: The subtle pattern on the dress helps to disguise any spills that might occur in the night. For example, when a glass of champagne gets out of control during a Wild sister dance party.
(Proof that this dress will still look good, even after 2 spilled glasses!)

The Justification: Billykirk

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Justification #1: On a recent trip, I received a business card and it occurred to me that I have no idea where to store it. As a number that I may or may not want to lose, it would probably be best to tuck it away to save for another day. And what better way to store it than in a Card/Cash Case?

Justification #2: The Card/Cash Case is hand stitched and the waxed cording is top quality according to our boys of Billykirk.
Justification #3: Made in the USA. Enough said.

Justification #1: The Hidden Buckle Belt is my favorite belt I’ve ever found for the boys. And possibly for myself. I’m dreaming of spring when I can pair this belt with some C/E Boyfriend Jeans. I’m guessing you boys out there are thinking the exact same thing? Moving on…
Justification #2: These belts are also made in the USA…which makes me want to support this company even more!

The Justification: Bag Decisions

Monday, January 18th, 2010
So it occurred to me the other day that I should purchase a new bag. I have the big totes and the small-ish everyday bag that I cram everything into. But with school starting again, I’d love to have something that can double as a school bag and an everyday bag without being too big.
Coincidentally, Atticus sells such a bag in the form of the Brant bag by Ashley Watson! Now I only have to decide which bag to purchase, so I’m justifying my final two choices. I know you’re just as excited as I am.

Ashley Watson Brant in Black
Justification #1: Black goes with everything, including my entire wardrobe.
Justification #2: Not to mention that these bags are made from recycled leather jackets, so I can justify the price since I’m being eco-friendly!
Justification #3: The two front pockets are deep enough to put all of my keys, which are big enough to rival a janitor’s, and my Blackberry (yes, I actually don’t carry it in my hand 24/7).
Justification #1: This bag has the snap pockets, so I’ll never have to worry about the random things I put in them falling out.
Justification #2: The beige is still a subtle color, but it won’t blend into every single thing I wear.
Justification #3: I just realized the pockets on this bag resemble a scary face. If you know me, then this might remind you of a certain default face I have. I think I just made my decision…I have to have THIS bag.

The Justification: Jewelry Must-haves

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

Justification #1: The Peacock Ring is
only $45, probably less than a night
out drinking! And it won’t contribute
to your daily calorie intake!
Justification #2: It looks vintage, so
if you’ve mysteriously been left out
of your grandmother’s will, this might
make you feel a little better!
Justification #1: If the Peacock Ring is a little much for you, the Thin Stack Rings are subtle but still eye catching.
Justification #2: They come in three shades: yellow gold, rose gold and silver for only $13 each!
Justification #3: They’re also available in medium, for $14
Justification #1: And for you boys, I know our hand model is hard to live up to, but I swear you’ll look just as great!
Justification #2: The wrap cuff is also available in black

The Justification: What’s still on sale and what’s still awesome

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Medium Sized Recycle Sea Bag
Justification #1: Sea Bags are perfect for going to the beach or toting around a ton of stuff
Justification #2: Sea Bags come in three different sizes: small, medium and large
Justification #3: Each bag has a different design including a star, a recycle sign and vintage
Justification #4: They’re 50% off and totally awesome!
Justification #1: I swear any boy will look good in these jeans!
Justification #2: There are two washes to choose from-Mic (shown) and Moc
Justification #3: They’re 30% off, so get them while you can!

The Justification: Best items to justify from the End of 2009 sale:

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Justification #1: The darker colors and subtle details make this beauty an eye catcher in the summer months and a stylish, cold-but-do-able choice in the winter months.
Justification #2: This dress also hides stains extremely well. Especially when the drunk girl at the wedding you’re attending spills her entire drink on you. Trust me.
Justification #3: This dress is 70% off. I swear you’re going to hate yourself if you don’t just buy it now.
Justification #1: Simon Millers for 50% off? Yes please.
Justification #2: These aren’t in production anymore, so grab these while you still can!

The Justification: What’s new/My newest obsessions/Last minute gift ideas

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Justification #1: So this jacket is my number one current obsession…and it should be yours, too.
Justification #2: It’s also new.
Justification #3: And, it would make a really great last minute gift idea. Yeah, it’s a little pricey for something you’re going to give away but that’s what you get for waiting until the last minute.
Justification #1: Okay, maybe $475 is a little much for a gift. If I was going to receive a gift that wasn’t the Filippa jacket, this would be my second pick (hint, hint).
Justification #2: It’s also a lot less expensive. (Notice how I put the most expensive item first…$150 for a gift isn’t looking so bad now, is it?)
Justification #1: And for those guys that are so freaking hard to shop for…this wrap bracelet is perfect because it’s manly and won’t make them look like girly.
Justification #2: Unless that’s the look they want. Then it does. It also looks really good on girls!
