Sometimes I forget how truly brilliant my friends are, but lately the verbal assuages of our very own Kiki Wild (pictured left thinking deep thoughts with me) are pure genius. Her latest:
“I’m not sure if it’s worse to make bad decisions that you remember or to have no recollection of any decisions made at all.”
Why am I paying my therapist thousands of dollars when Gmail delivers her resplendent gems for free?
Which got me thinking, what’s the best piece of advice (fashion or otherwise) you’ve ever received?
“A show is a ceremony. It’s a religious ceremony with the people that really believe. You don’t go to a Comme des Garçons show if you don’t really believe in Comme des Garçons. If you don’t believe in it, you go to a baseball match, right?”
– Olivier Zahm, editor and founder of Purple Fashion via style.com
Like poetry, fashion does not state anything. It merely suggests.
–Oh Karl, you are so wise!
“There comes a time in every woman’s life when the only thing that helps is a glass of champagne.”
-Bette Davis
“A girl should be two things: class and fabulous.”
-Coco Chanel
“Let’s be honest, the reality rarely lives up to the romance and I am OK with that—I think we all could benefit from letting ourselves get lost in the romance of an idea or perception instead of having to know every excruciating detail of reality.”
Scott Schuman, aka thesartorialist.com
After my week long sabbatical, the words of the quintessential fashion phoenix, Diane von Fürstenberg, felt right for today.
“Life is a risk.”
–Diane von Fürstenberg
“It’s about style, not fashion. Fashions come and go, but style is forever.” – Yves Saint Laurent
“It’s like a bottle of perfume. You smell it, you don’t sniff it or drink it.”
— Alber Elbaz, on the smell of success at Monday’s CFDA awards.
